The Nameless
rejoiced in group activities, and this aspect of their lifestyle was one of the
most shocking to the egos. This had been the revolution in human history, that
two souls had liked one another. This required a “direct spiritual
perception,” which means that the intrinsic or unchanging aspects of
personality could be seen, so the idea about another person was full and
adequate, rather than a hodgepodge of unrelated sense experience drawn together
as selfish use is sought from the objects of sense experience, as it is among
egos. The egos quite literally did not “see” any other person as real, a
fact they never ceased to demonstrate. The most garish proof is that the egos
don’t accept future generations as real, so that the planet was plundered for
today’s greed, ignoring tomorrow’s need. The humans served an unlimited
material expansion, including unlimited population growth and unlimited
proliferation of material desires, until the Earth was brought to the brink of
destruction. But they never really noticed this was so.
If a human saw two of the Nameless
together in a room, at first they’d think, “Oh, it is friends,” sure they
know what friendship is. But then the human begins to notice, at a level below
conscious comprehension but which is vitally offensive to its private project,
that negativity is absent from the conversation, and the two are also not
“schmoozing,” which is to say validating one another from the senses. The
ego is small-minded. It only really sees its own private project of intellectual
expansion, which it conceives as being increasing domination of the material
sphere, with no spirit-based concept of another real living person. Therefore as
egos form “friendships,” they are affairs of mutual selfish use. One says,
“I did this great thing,” the other replies, “I agree you are very great,
and I did this other great thing,” to which the other replies, “I agree you
are very great.” Therefore the egos take off flying into a land of mutual
support that may be called “the matrix,” that is divorced from the standards
of God and His righteous angels. All this support is contingent, based on false
standards derived from comparisons made in the sense realm. The egos do not have
great personalities. As they report their attempts at “great things,” really
it is like raw sense experience, not given in a personal context. Hearing that
is like sandpaper on the ears, for the powerful souls. These same powerful souls
take in sense experience by “personal handles,” which means as they
experience the senses they are already preparing to share this beautifully with
others. They do “double work,” just in living in an everyday situation,
where the egos are struggling to make a first impression in skills on the
material plane. As the powerful souls or angels converse, it also sounds like
sandpaper across the ears of egos. It looks like they are picking out all the
wrong elements from sense experience to report, for there is no trace of selfish
use in any of it.
So what Betsy and the others found,
was that mysteriously, just by staying in a room together, the egos were given
cause to flee. Viewing majestic behavior, which is two noble people who like one
another from a direct perception of real attributes, the ego finds no
reflections of its own motivation. It cannot understand, why those two people
are remaining together, and if it is this baffled by two, just imagine two
hundred or more! Unless you have a powerful soul, sense experience acts
powerfully to divide attention and distract from the spiritual core of life.
Spiritual power can be likened to an ability to withdraw one’s face from a
pool of mud, in which everyone’s face is plunged by the very fact of
embodiment. The very powerful can withdraw from this to a pure spiritual
perception, and when they do so the very weak are not going to understand what
they are seeing. The angelic mind could be likened to an invisible bulldozer,
where the humans have only small shovels, and most of the dirt they move falls
on their own heads. The bulldozer undergoes frequent backing up motions, that
look like the absence of power to the egos, as they frantically identify with
the senses and live by immediate reactions to them. Again and again the
bulldozers back up, and the biggest bulldozers back up the most of all. The
other bulldozers know the power of a bulldozer, and recognize that the one who
keeps backing up the most does so from spiritual awareness, seeing the profundities
at the core of life more clearly than anyone else. The shovelers never heard of
a bulldozer, and don’t think their activities can amount to much, though
mountains are moved.
You can say this too, that a rich
relationship is the result of continuously renewed discovery, a process that is
deep and difficult to maintain. The senses draw attention away from spirit, but
to have a rich relationship requires attention be directed again and again at
spirit. The ones who can achieve this feat live in a different land from those
who cannot. For them, the object-field recedes and the personal interaction
becomes “the thing,” what they treasure most about living. It is this Jesus
meant by “laying up treasures in Heaven,” but that was weakly stated and
misleading, where “Heaven” must be interpreted as the blissful state of mind
in a life drawn powerfully from above the senses.
Betsy knew personally that another
dividing force against the egos had been the fact that God created the male and
female souls to be absolutely equal by power, but different in specific
attribute, as each had in a sense been carved out from the “full person”
with opposing characteristics meant to result in a rich and dynamic dance of
spirit between the sexes. This had been done to enhance the beauty of the
created souls in a situation where they were relatively small, and would remain
so. The Lord was under no such restrictions, and alone among beings could be
described neither as “male,” nor as “female.” Among the egos, the males
had always dominated the females by intellect, as these females in turn
dominated the males by emotion. These are not the true male/female attributes,
but corruptions derived from an arrangement of mutual selfish use by
co-domination. When the Nameless had first separated from the world, the female
angels were at last allowed to reveal their fuller intellectual power, that is
shocking to egos both male and female. The male egos had kept even the greatest
of the female angels in iron bonds of oppression, enforced by cruelty and
violence. But when the female angels gathered together they began to know their
strength, supported by male angels who did not impose unduly against their
intellects, and had their own powerful emotions besides.
Non-touching and delayed dating had
also taken the egos by surprise. If an ego dared to venture within the
communities of the Nameless, he’d presume the females were there to serve him,
and could be easily had in a brief courtship ritual. Instead he found the
females hating such ideas and turning fiercely against his proposals, no longer
the meek roses that men pluck from the fields of their desire! Among the
Nameless the natural order was that one waited until the late twenties or early
thirties to think of dating. That period of the twenties was in many ways the
richest one of life, where the person meditated deeply and enjoyed the
companionship of many friends. Eventually the soul-mate always appeared if that
person had one, but it was in a context no longer driven by the hormones or the
senses. The Nameless found constant evidence that soul-mates developed across
lifetimes and solar cycles, the two souls intertwining in fantastic and
beautiful ways. To see this network of intertwining makes infidelity impossible,
because you then know that being with the wrong one is like trying to squeeze a
size 12 foot into a size 3 shoe! Then, the courtships of the Nameless always
lasted a minimum of two years, with no touching at all the first year, and
minimal touching like holding hands or a peck on the cheek, the second year.
Many couples liked to extend these intervals, since the thrills of encountering
the personality of the beloved easily best any sensations that the senses can
convey through the body, to those who have the direct spiritual perception.
Finding such barriers, the egos fled in horror should they chance to land among
the Nameless, attempting to live among them.
Betsy found that she had the power to
differentiate her love. She could love hundreds or thousands of people as
“dear ones,” which the community living situation allowed her to develop
over many daily encounters over decades, where you see a snippet of someone’s
personality over here, than another over there, and gradually build a warm
mental model. But she found this was really true within her heart, that these
loves were experienced as totally unrelated to her love for the soul-mate, as if
emerging from an entirely different spring. A third to a half of most
communities were comprised of individuals who stayed single throughout life. In
God’s dispensation for the souls, a choice of pure freedom is also allowed,
and some souls had made that choice, citing enhanced states of ecstasy and power
over universal love rather than particular love. But Betsy had a soul-mate, and
thus fell into a different part of God’s dispensation, which is the majority
condition. There are advantages to each lifestyle, the couples claiming a unique
warmth and special discrimination in encountering the “one and only.” Her
twenties had been a most exciting time of her life, where she wasn’t really
sure she had a soul-mate, and wondered if she had made the choice for pure
freedom. But by divine dispensation, from within her soul and without, one day
she had awakened to recognition of the soul-mate. Since it is the male portion
to cherish freedom over relation, she’d had a tough time convincing the one
she was sure was her soul-mate, but she’d have wanted it no other way. Finding
him in a state convinced he was one of the ever-free souls, he was also
preserved for her perfectly. They had made it across death’s fierce barrier to
reunite in the next life without any events of infidelity even as existed among
the humans seeking girlfriends and boyfriends from puberty. That was the highest
type of life that God intended for those He had made.
Strangely then, the egos shunned the
Nameless naturally, without a need for laws or banishment. The pure selfless
state was all-repelling, for it “got under the skin” of egos in a profound
way, striking hard against what they hold most dear, which is dualistic
thinking. Betsy was delighted to have full use of her intellect, though this
made it tougher for the women to go on interacting with those in the world, than
it was for the men. Delegations were sent out, education and training were
sought, but it was easier for a man to go out into the main society alone, than
for a woman, so devastating were the bonds of oppression emerging from the male
egos. The Lord had not brought holism intact to the world. Uses had still been
found for an unthinking science and a greed-driven society. A person capable of
truly holistic thinking such as Betsy, could also embrace the principles of
science, therefore Betsy had gone out into the world for special training as a
scientist. However, she found she needed to stay in contact with other women
from her “home base,” where the men were sometimes able to go months at a
time on their own among the egos. Every day of her training had been a burden
for her, as she found the males expecting her to stuff her intellect into a
corner, though among scientists her powers had been easier to mask. If they were
going to talk about science, she seemed to do alright, but any personal
encounters were horrifying for her. Talking with her female friends from among
the Nameless was like a breath of fresh air she needed desperately, and as she
did so she could begin to categories the troubles of the egos, as they differed
from her friends.
